My two cents. Go see it. It’s great. Maybe a little long and maybe it could use more humor early on, but it builds to an exciting finish so I recommend it. I mean, it’s Neal Gaiman, come on.

Set for February, Justice League: The New Frontier is a direct-to-DVD adaptation of Darwyn Cooke’s DC: The New Frontier. Just the first in a series of planned direct-to-DVD movies for DC, it will be interesting to see how they fare. I suspect the tactic of adapting actual stories like this one and the New Teen Titans’ The Judas Contract will draw a lot of fanboy interest. At any rate, the cast for New Frontier rates highly in the cool factor. Lucy Lawless is doing the voice of Wonder Woman, something a lot of fans wanted to see on the big screen. David “Angel” Boreanaz is doing the voice of Green Lantern/Hal Jordan. Neil Patrick Harris as the Flash, I can see that. Here’s a sneak preview.

As a series of “webisodes” on the Sci Fi Channel. It will be interesting to see what form that takes. At least it’s something, I guess.

Too funny.

For those fans out there of the quickly disappeared Nathan Fillion show Drive, executive producers Tim Minear and Craig Silverstein reveal what they had planned. While the show sometimes had the logic of a summer movie, I thought the premise and characters were interesting enough that I was sad to see it go so quickly.

I’m in shock this morning with the news of the death of WWE wrestler Chris Benoit, known to wrestling fans as “The Rabid Wolverine” or “The Canadian Crippler.” Not just a death but reportedly a murder-suicide, where he killed his wife and 7 year old son over the weekend, before killing himself yesterday. His wife was known to wrestling fans as well…the former Nancy Sullivan, ex-wife of wrestler Kevin Sullivan. She was known to wrestling fans as “Woman” or further back, “Fallen Angel.”

Benoit was not some washed up wrestler, felled by years of steroid abuse. He was still at the top in the WWE. I can’t help but think of the Radicalz, a foursome of wrestlers that Benoit was a part of. The four men, Chris Benoit, Eddie Guerrero, Dean Malenko, and Perry Saturn all left WCW together and arrived in the WWE together, a rare feat in wrestling. Now Malenko and Saturn are mostly retired, and Benoit and Guerrero, the most successful of the four, are both dead.

This whole thing is a tragedy. Benoit was one of my favorite wrestlers, and he shall be missed.
